The federal government has terminated numerous federally funded grants and contracts to Harvard and is scaling back investments in scientific and medical research across the country. In this series, Harvard Medical School scientists discuss how these actions are affecting their research and their labs.
Michael Baym is an associate professor in the HMS Department of Bioinformatics. He studies how resistance evolves with the goal of finding new treatments that prevent the emergence of resistance or even reverse it.
“Antibiotics are critical for treating infections but also for preserving many of the other miracles of modern medicine,” he says. “These projects and these discoveries take years.” Learn more about his work in the video below.
